Michael Feihstel I didn't even realize that this was Flo Dill's compilation until I heard that very familiar "Euphoria Case" song she's been teasing (but not revealing) in her NTS shows for ages. Boy, have I been looking for this one ever since. Finally. Needless to say that this was an instant purchase without even listening to the rest of the compilation. A compilation of the left field and fun pop comes beautifully formed in Perfect Motion, presenting 9 songs of the ethereal and effervescent, capturing a time, place in music which offers a well of emotions and thought.

Compiled by Bruno (perfectliv.es) and Flo Dill (Flo Motion / NTS Radio), their love and discoveries are laid bare as they dive deep into the collections for your pleasure.

The early 1980s are rightly considered a halcyon period for music, where artists, buoyed by the explosion of creativity from punk, not only get up and make their own music, but also take on the means of production by ignoring the traditional route of getting signed to a big label with budgets and marketing and all the pitfalls, short term failure prospects that might bring and took on for themselves the complete process; pressing and distributing their creativity and offering it to the world as a true art project.

With this came many self-released cassettes, singles and notably, compilation albums, including unique, locality-based collections of up-and-coming bands or one-off projects. Perfect Motion examines all of this, with songs from short lived Cornwall cassette ventures to even labels run out of the University music departments.

Much could be written about each song and artist, all have a story and a place, however, on listening to the album there is instantly a distinct feel and texture of the compilation that should encourage great enjoyment, further research and onwards discovery. A light, guiding you home.

NOTE: In keeping with the music and ethos of the compilation, Perfect Motion is self-released by Bruno and Flo with Emotional Rescue acting and helping with the production and distribution only.
